MILAN BATCH

On my first trip to Italy, I tracked down a third generation vintage eyewear collector I heard about. I visited them three times, meeting the family and searching their historic collection for the most unique, rare finds from world-renown designers. This pair is 1 of 7 that continued the trip with me in my backpack from Italy to the UK and home to San Diego.

I went to Italy in February 2024 to meet with my lens manufacturer, ZEISS, a world leader in optics. I met the team working on ROSEYS' lens, toured the facility that would produce them, and visited their booth at the MIDO Eyewear Tradeshow. Hearing stories from longtime employees who pioneered color lenses at ZEISS and learning about their radical sustainability initiatives made my 7 years of dreaming and development finally feel worth it.

MATERIALS

LENS

Made in Italy with ZEISS polyamide for its universal frame compatibility and reduced CO2 emissions.

The entire ZEISS polyamide production chain, from material to lens, uses 100% renewable electricity.

40% bio-based raw materials (from waste produced by the agricultural industry) partially substitute fossil-based material in production using a mass balance approach.

These actions lead to reduced CO2 emissions in polyamide lens manufacturing (up to 50%). Certified by REDcert2 standard, a European sustainability certification system that verifies all stages of production.
